Buy high-quality espresso coffee for your espresso machine

Do you want to take your coffee experience to the next level? At Copenhagen Coffee Lab, you can buy espresso coffee that has been carefully selected and roasted in our roastery in Copenhagen. The result is a deep and complex espresso that works both as a pure espresso and as a base with milk in, for example, cappuccino and latte.

We collaborate with coffee farms we trust, and many we have worked with for many years. We only choose beans that we ourselves love to drink. When you choose espresso coffee from us, you get a complete taste experience with a focus on both taste and responsibility.

What is espresso?

Espresso is an intense brewing method where hot water is forced through finely ground coffee under high pressure – typically 9 bars. This creates a concentrated cup of espresso with a characteristic crema on top. Compared to filter coffee, espresso is richer, stronger, and smaller in volume. It also serves as the base for classic milk-based drinks like cortado, cappuccino, and latte.

Organic and Fairtrade espresso coffee

Do you want to enjoy your espresso coffee with an extra clear conscience? We offer both organic and Fairtrade-certified espresso beans. Organic coffee is grown without artificial fertilizers and pesticides, which promotes both taste and sustainability. Fairtrade ensures fair wages and working conditions for coffee farmers. When you buy espresso beans from us, you get both quality and ethics in every cup.

Whole beans or ground coffee?

You can only order our espresso coffee as whole beans. This is because we recommend that you grind the beans yourself before brewing your espresso. Achieving the right pressure during brewing depends on the ratio of water flow time to the amount of ground coffee – as well as the size of the ground coffee beans. Therefore, whole beans are perfect for those with their own grinder. It ensures freshness and full aroma – ideal for espresso brewing. All our coffee beans roasted for filter coffee, can be purchased as both whole beans and ground coffee. This is because hitting a specific pressure is not as crucial when brewing filter coffee. Ground coffee is a convenient and easy solution, ground specifically for filter coffee or French press. You can find our filter coffee beans here and ground coffee here. Are you unsure what suits your machine? Write to us – we are happy to help.

How to brew the perfect espresso

A good espresso requires precision: the right amount of coffee, the correct grind size, even tamping, and the right temperature and extraction time. These factors will also vary slightly depending on the specific coffee, as we adjust the roast profile for each bean to achieve the optimal result. We recommend that you download the brewing guide we have created for each coffee. You will find it on each product page, and it contains all the information you need. As a general starting point, we recommend: - 18-20g of coffee for a double espresso - 25-30 seconds of extraction - Pre-heated cup and a calibrated machine See the brewing guide for our best-selling espresso beans, Campo Das Vertentes, by scrolling down a bit on the product page.

How long does delivery take?

We usually ship within 1-2 business days. Orders are delivered via GLS.

Which coffee is best for my brewing method?

That depends on how you brew. Espresso machines work best with darker roasts, while drip and French press methods pair well with lighter roasts. Check out our brew guide for more tips.

Do you sell whole beans or ground coffee?

Both. You can choose whole beans or select "Ground" on the product page before adding the product to your cart. You can also find our Ground coffee here.

Is your coffee organic?

Yes, we offer a selection of organic coffee and many of our products are also Fairtrade certified.

What roasting style do you use?

Drawing on our many years of experience in the field, our roasters profile each batch according to its terroir, processing method, and brewing method, ensuring precise development of each batch so that no discovery of the roasting process can ever distract you from the true taste experience of the coffee. Together with our extensive daily quality control, this allows for dynamic and progressive roast profiling and a consistent product regardless of quantity.

Which countries do you ship to?

We ship to 25 European countries. Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden. You can read more about delivery and prices here. If you have any special delivery requests, please let us know.

How long do you recommend I use the coffee for?

If your bag remains unopened, the coffee will still taste fine for many months after roasting. Coffee deteriorates as it ages and loses some of its vibrancy. Remember to reseal the bag or use an alternative airtight container.

Resting time is an important aspect of coffee brewing, so be sure to experiment to find out how long you should wait after the roast date. For espresso, we recommend between 1 and 2 weeks of rest; for filter coffee, we can recommend a shorter rest period.
