District Manager in Hamburg

Copenhagen Coffee Lab is a hand-craft coffee roastery, wholesaler, café and bakery chain founded in Copenhagen in 2013. Since 2013 we have marked our presence in Denmark and throughout Europe with 50 cafés across Denmark, Germany, France, and Portugal.

 

We’re looking for an ambitious and structured District Manager to lead and elevate performance across several cafés in Hamburg.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and represent Copenhagen Coffee Lab’s values across all cafés in your district.
  • Coach, support, and develop Store Managers and Assistant Managers to build confident and self-sufficient leadership teams.
  • Create accountability and motivation, fostering a strong and solution-oriented culture.
  • Ensure all cafés operate according to company standards in service, product quality, hygiene, and presentation.
  • Conduct regular store visits and operational audits to secure consistency and excellence.
  • Take full ownership of district financial performance, including revenue, productivity, salary %, and waste.
  • Work closely with Store Managers to analyze KPIs and implement data-driven improvements.
  • Approve schedules and ensure alignment with budget targets and salary % goals.
  • Identify opportunities for sales growth and cost optimization across the district.
  • Oversee recruitment processes, onboarding quality, and probation follow-ups.
  • Act as escalation point for HR-related matters and ensure full legal and compliance standards are met.
  • Oversee stock management, supplier coordination, and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Ensure smooth communication between cafés, the Cluster Manager, and support departments.
  • Provide structured weekly reporting and participate in management meetings.
  • Drive collaboration between stores and strengthen internal promotion pathways.

Note: The District Manager is expected to maintain strong presence in cafés, work every second weekend, and remain flexible to step in operationally when needed (e.g., emergency situations or Store Manager absence).

 

Qualifications

  • German and English language skills at speech and conversational level.
  • Proven experience in multi-unit leadership within hospitality, retail, or similar fast-paced environments.Strong financial understanding and experience managing KPIs and budgets.
  • Excellent coaching and people development skills.
  • High level of structure, accountability, and decision-making ability.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational involvement.
    Knowledge of compliance, HR processes, and food safety standards.
  • A genuine passion for quality coffee, bakery, and hospitality culture.
