“Los Campos” Farm and Micro-mill is a project created by the Ramirez Navarro Family. The 9 hectares’ farm is located in the Tarrazú Region in Cartago; at 1700 m.a.s.l. The founder Mr. Alexis Ramirez, was a farmer that devoted his whole life to agriculture, 30 years he dedicated in coffee production. In 2015 the Ramirez family decided to start processing the coffee directly in their farm with the vision to offer to their customers more quality and traceability for their coffee.
In 2017 we met Carlos Ramirez, Mr. Alexis oldest son, and started the conversation on buying some of his coffee. After seeing “Los Campos” and tasting their coffee it was an easy decision, so we began this collaboration.
This past February 2019 we visited Carlos in Los Campos and saw many improvements. Their drying space and beds doubled from the year before, having enough area to process and dry more coffee. Their de-pulper also tripled in size in order to process more coffee while keeping consistency. We could also see that this year they had more varieties of coffee processes to offer (natural, semi-washed, washed, honey, black honey). All of these improvements makes us happy to collaborate with such a producer and gives us the chance to give them feedback in how these progresses are tasting in the cup.
